Details of the "Measure of a Man" Events
June, July, August, 2010

During June, July, and August, 2010 the men of First Baptist are sponsoring a series of exciting events to enhance the spiritual, and physical well-being of men. The theme of this effort is "The Measure of a Man" and will include many activities and events designed especially for men or men serving in a leadership role. Details of many of the events are listed below.

All Wednesdays during June, July, and August
"Measure of a Man" Learning Series
5:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall

This series is based on the book, "The Measure of a Man" by Gene Getz with discussions of many subjects from a biblical perspective. All discussions will be led by Pastor Ladd with such subjects as:

Wednesday, June 23
Health Fair for Men with Free Prostrate, Diabetes, and Hypertension Screening
3:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Prostate cancer is one of the most serious diseases that can affect a man. This free prostate screening will help with early detection of this deadly disease in which early detection can save a life. Diabetes and hypertension are also serious diseases but are treatable especially if detected early enough.

Community Service for Sick and Shut-in Members
10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

The men pitch-in to help with grass cutting, painting, and any other projects our sick and shut-in members may be in need of.

Sunday, June 27
Men's Day Worship Service
11:00 AM

Join us as the men completely take over all aspects of the worship service. This is a day that we also give special recognition to the men that have impacted our life in a positive way. This year there will be special recognition of local African-American physicians. The guest speaker will be Dr. Bernard L. Parham, Sr.

Tuesday, July 6
Men's Night Out with the Lookouts
AT&T Baseball Stadium
6:30 PM

Fellowship with other believers is a necessity for a Christian man. The men get together for a night of fun at the ballpark to watch the Chattanooga Lookouts face a worthy opponent.

Habitat for Humanity Community Service Project
The men of First Baptist use this opportunity to give back to the community.

Church Service Project - Church Clean-up
First Baptist Church
10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

The men pitch in to fix-up and clean-up.

Saturday, August 28
Jazz by the Water
Vulcan Recreation Property
5:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Fellowship with other believers is a necessity for a Christian. This event features a Jazz combo in a relaxing environment at the Vulcan recreation property located on the left side of the new FedEx facility on Shallowford Road.

Directions:

From Moore Road - Travel Moore Road until it dead ends into Shallowford Road. Turn right and go one forth mile and the facility will be located on the right just after the FedEx facility.

From Hwy 153 - Exit Hwy 153 at the Shallowford Road exit and turn west on Shallowford Road. Travel about 1.25 miles and you should see the facility on the left. It will be on the left side of the FedEx facility. You have gone too far if you pass by the FedEx facility.

Passing of the Torch
11:00 AM Worship Service
The torch is passed to the Family Division. Special activities will be planned by them for the following three months. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
